On this we both completely agree, lucky if I get a grunt of welcome from my 15 yr old.

Sorry i didnt express myself very well. Its not that people with money are all good people cause we know they are not. Good and bad people come in all walks of life.

However, I do think it should be made harder for people to own a dog. Our last dog for example ..... seen an advert in the paper, rang them, went round and collected her. No questions asked. I could have been anyone!

I do honestly think people need to be vetted prior to owning a pet. I suppose regardless of money, although if people cannot afford to pay for food, vets bills etc - should they own a dog ? On sky news recently I was reading about how many many people are turning their dogs into shelters because they cannot afford to feed them. How people are dumping pets at the roadside, or moving house and leaving the dog tied in the garden to stop them following. The article I read did say that it was increasing dramatically due to the recesssion.

Having said that, people are not vetted before they have kids and we all read the stories that can happen - a whole different debate!

Lolli yes sorry I forgot a digit but 1986 sounds just perfict:hehe: but when I read the year I was born it does seem long time ago:D but not as long as some of the wrinklies on here:lollol:On the whole I think we do treat our animals in this country better than those abroad.I have heard and read on the net some appauling cases of stray pets being run over on purpose and skinned alive. It made me feel sick just reading it.

Rosa, I did notice that Rosa was getting a little bit more cuddly round the middle but didn't like to say but then aren't we all:thmb:

Sam,me and Mr Kandy found a Chinchilla the other year that had been abandoned on a country road near us and ended up taking it to a Rescue Centre as we couldn't keep it as they need lots of attention plus a very strong cage.On the radio last year on our local station they were talking to the RSPCA and they were saying that so many animals were either being abandoned or handed in to them and one owner said they had to get rid of the cat because it didn't blend in with their new lounge carpet, how sad is that:(

I don't know about the kids bit and their grunting as I haven't got any but we do see it when we go out and about and the way that kids play up .Why do parents treat their kids like some mini God is what I can't get my head round? My parents brought up nine kids of their own plus adopted another and also fostered and although my parents believed in corporal punishment we have all grown up to be decent people.:)

Perhaps pet and child owners ought to all have a very expensive license before they own either and then perhaps they would treat them better:D

Sam-I reckon a trip to the doctors for some happy pills will be in order to help me with my lot. 15 yr old is the eldest-then 12 yr old then 6 yr old. Phew, you've got your hands full.

I wouldn't mind so much if we could buy a well built 25 yr old fella-I'd pay a fortune for that sort of licence-I think the Romans probably had it right-can't find one of those breeders for love nor money lol lol

On an even lighter note, I don't think my two cats believe I own them-in fact I reckon they believe I am just the butler and the cook.

Kandyfoss - If people were licensed and the pets microchipped per owner, then dumping pets would no longer be someone's option. How on earth someone could do that anyway, is beyond me!

The thing that doesnt really get to me though is how someone can dump a pet, or hand it in to a rescue centre and they are then legally allowed to just go off and get another one when they choose too ...... Thats not right. It shouldnt be allowed.

Lollipop - yes its a bit hectic here sometimes but I do believe its easier with them being so close in age. They do tend to fend for themselves a lot more these days which makes our life an awful lot easier and gives us the time to spend on our own hobbies etc.

Only one is biologically mine (grumpy 15 year old), the others are OH's who came to live with us. Girls have been here 6 years now and the 13 yr old moved in 2 years ago ...... guess we shouldnt have made their visits so nice :hehe:

Hmmm could think of plenty of things to do with a 25 year old hunk but dont think OH would like it too much .... although if it got him out of doing the DIY he might go for it

lol im 26!!!, but back to the dog.

To my mind it does look fat, on the face of it perhaps not worthy of prosecution however long nails and faces everywere would point to a lack of care and excercise.

Collies are very active dogs and the conditions mentioned when viewed as one IMO point to overall suffering and cruelty.
