So it was! Funnily enough, I never looked up there. I was looking at all the potted plants on the shelf and the lily pond. I'm quite gutted now. Ah well, I purchased an annual pass as I'm regularly in the area so I'll remember to look up next time.

It only blooms for a few short weeks but when the blooms drop off they're quite fascinating close up.
The Lily House is my favourite part and it is just coming into its own now.

Wow - some really interesting plants there. That T. mysorensis is fantastic. And what a size for that Pachystachys lutea. I killed mine which made me very sad.

I am dying to see a Heliconia in flower - never seen one. But I bought a rhizome back from Madeira earlier this year, which is growing well. So I live in hope. I have no idea what species it is - is stricta the most common one? Many thanks for the excellent pictures. Its an eye opener to see so many new things.

I don't suppose it would make you feel better if I told you that it is almost an invasive weed in this particular glasshouse would it :snork:

Good luck! They are on my "to do" list as well.

I have no idea. There are close to two hundred species I believe.

Even after all these years I'm still finding new things there!
