    Dogs know more than we realise, in fact I think once they reach a certain age, they become mind readers.
    They can read our minds but we are just not clever enough to read theirs.

      I've been thinking upon this (sorry :redface: :heehee: )
      Dogs are very much an "intuitive" animal which, together with their incredible sense of nuance and body language ... I can well see how it appears they read our minds.
      Now, from a human perspective: Mr "M" is quite oblivious to Ozzy's body language - yet, to me, it is very clear cut, to the point of *shouting* at times (if Mr "M" doesn't pick up on it! :heehee:)
      I'm sensitive to Ozzy's posture, positioning and "body language" (as I'm sure many of the dog owners on here are!) so I do not find it difficult to assess/interpret what he is feeling/suggesting/needing.

      Likewise, he acclimatises himself to *read* our signals: our repeated habits; our tuts-sighs (as in "tut"! How annoying/aww, look! Sighs as in exasperated vs aww or even ahh!). He is far more attune to my body language than I could ever aspire to be with his! Yet, I do know when he is displaying signs of "just leave me alone to - no, I mean it (!) - through to - just leave-me-alone!"

      But, isn't that the most remarkable part of our relationship with our dogs? The knowing parts, the not quite understanding but I forgive you parts (dog side!) to the full fledged attuned parts!

      I recall a poster on here speaking about a dog they "inherited" from a parent/in-law and the magnificent relationship they shared. Now, that dog must have been one clever so-and-so to switch homes, be able to "read" it's new (ish) owners and blend in.

      I'm convinced dogs choose us and choose how to respond to us: they are c.l.e.v.e.r. :blue thumb:

          Ozzy's gorgeous :doggieshmooze:

          My blind boy Max used to cross his paws :doggieshmooze: He and your Zoe could have been separated at birth @pete

          Max loved his little hidey hole. Lost him earlier this year to cancer :frown:

              @merleworld

              God love him, surrounded by all his toys there, bless. Sorry you have lost his physical presence in your life but his spirit will always be close by your side, of that I am convinced :doggieshmooze:
