Couple of things for you to check into Sheal
    1. is your antivirus up to date - if so, do a full scan
    2. do you have SpyBotsearchanddestroy? if so run it, if now download it and run it.
    3. have you done a disk Cleanup lately? Here is how to do that

For me it is getting to the point of giving up, It is only the good craik on here I keep trying
If there are more than ten people accessing the server, then it is pointless trying
Six or seven times unable to connect, (Just check on the top left of the first page as to who is on, rather than waste any more time) this is just since the upgrade
I would tend to think that the bandwidth is limited

I am on 120mb and every other site in the world is instant access, milli seconds
At least I can actually eventually get on here, I can not get on any RHS IP at all
unless I do not use IE

Hi everyone, I'm back after five days of almost complete breakdown. My computer is now prancing around like a spring lamb, so for those of you who are still experiencing slow down, the following is what I had to do.

Without the knowledge of background computing myself, my son and I got together and he 'remotely' took over as he lives in America.

I have had issues with slow down and other problems for the last six months and since the site change it got worse, last week amounted to almost total failure of my system.

Before starting I backed up on an external drive just to be on the safe side. My son with me assisting has done a complete overhaul and clean up. Updating everything possible, AVG, IE etc. From there we downloaded (not before time) a free CCleaner and put that to work. Andrew (my son) gave my toolbars a clean-up aswell, getting rid of a lot things I didn't need. We fininished with de-fragmentation that took an hour.

After five hours work on it my computer has a new lease of life, everything is up to speed. I have now just one 'glitch' and I'm not sure whether it is GC based or not. When I return to the home page with the Gardeners Corner heading at the top I get a momentary blip on the heading before the rest of the page appears. Can anyone help me with that please. :)

I hope this post may be of help to other members regarding 'slow down'. :)

Thanks everyone for the help you have given me along the way. :dbgrtmb:

Its ok now, working again for me.
Just came to a standstill for a while and now seems fine.
Does that sound like my PC or a server problem?

I've had lots of problems with GC since the changeover, very, very, very slow in loading whereas other sites were not, including getting logged out on page changes .... grrrr

Had t'other half do a complete clean on my computer yesterday and things are incredibly better, but GC is still slow, sorry to say. Without going back and looking, someone said something about loading GC, going making a cup of tea and coming back and hopefully they were loaded, if not, go get a biccy and come back ... it really was like that for me but not with other forums.

        All sort of okay now.

Pete I think it's server issues, mine has returned to normal now. Or, just a thought, many of us are on different servers could it be atmosphere issues. My car radio kept de-tuning itself when I was out earlier.

        I'm with Talk Talk.
Usually I don't really have an issue with GC. Today seems exceedingly slow. I'm seeing almost a minute from clicking on a topic to actually getting in.
This is a lot slower than normal, even for GC.

As I'm so far from the telephone exchange my download speeds are always slow but GC is always slower than any other site - and always has been. Even then it's not much of a problem. It normally takes between 10 and 20 seconds to load a page. I don't know whether it's slower than others because of all the photos on them but, as said before, I go to 'Watched Threads' and open all of them in new tabs and whilst they are loading I go back to the first one which is open by then.

Ccleaner was going to be my next suggestion. It's a little programme but clears out hundreds of Mbs of cookies and stuff. If you are having trouble, do please download it and run it. It makes a power of difference. It's safe and it's free!

I run it often and it invariably removes upwards of 200Mbs of unnecessary stuff. I left it for a couple of months once and it removed 854Mb! :wow:
