Do they both live outside Pete, or do you have to dig them up?

Both my Chamaerops humilis and my Trachycarpus wagnerianus are planted out. I have slight concerns about the Chamy below -10C and I really ought to get some rope-lights for it "just in case" of a hard winter. I'm not planning to do anything for the Waggy - it should be fine to -15C.

Washingtonia robusta may resent cold below -8C

I grew the Chamy from seed back in '85, its been there since about 1990, I have to cut off suckers some years as it gets too big and sreading, its survived a couple minus 14c nights.

The Washy is a different prospect, but is pretty hardy if you can keep the water out of the top, frozen water down in the soft new growing point seems to spell disaster, but its been there for probably 10 yrs, with some winter protection.

Mowgley - I am really impressed with your picture - the old leaves as well as the new.

Mine seem to manage to keep one-prior-set of leaves - its the one-before-last that seems to go yellow in the run up to a new flush. Mine you, not had it long enough to know if that is "Norm" or "Fluke" :heehee:

Same here we'll see what it looks like next year after I've had it for a year.
Just really happy that it's flushed wasn't expecting it to do it
Going to put it in the GH in winter

It looks like a Washintonia Pam, infact three plants in one pot.

its only marginally hardy and definitely not before it forms some kind of trunk.

On the up side, it grows very fast for a palm.

Hi @pamsdish lovely little palm that
To me it looks like a washingtonia Rosbusta
                      Which will need winter protection
Keep in the GH over winter if below -4 I'd either wrap it or bring it indoors
                      Hope this helps
