Pampas grass was very "in" during the sixties and seventies . It does look nice when in flower , but can become a bit of a brute .There is a very large one just down the road , now if you wanted to remove it you would need a JCB !
As @Tetters said one of it's advantages is it is a signal for swingers ! So you may get a few interesting callers :snorky:

Just seen this post, I had two pampas grasses both in lilac and the neighbour always had them off me to put in her large pots by the fire :)

When dry pampas grass burns well and in the 70s some people recommended fire as a method of tidying them up. The old dry material burnt away and then it reshoots. Do not do this, it burns well and produces a lot of sparks and flaming debris that floats on the breeze. My father "thought he would help" a friend by setting fire to their pampas grass one summer day. Completely forgot the petrol station across the road (granted a wide road) result was he spent the rest of the day with a hose damping down the pampas grass. Never did learn what the garage man said to him.

I also read its "good" to burn pampas grass, I mentioned it to my neighbour when she moaned about the garden maintenance team who took a strimmer to hers, she looked at me as if I was crazy
