I would suggest that's more to do with the amount of traffic on the roads rather than any increase in legislation.

yep, slow moving traffic along with new 20MPH zones.

We have a road near me where the traffic flowed reasonably well, then they stopped all overtaking, now there is one continuous stream of traffic, no one can pass a bus when it stops and milk floats are a nightmare.
Actually pulling out onto this road is lethal now, as there are very few breaks in the traffic, and turning right onto it is an impossibility.

The amout of traffic has not increased on this particular road, (in fact its probably less due to people using side roads, even over humps, which are now quicker), just the way the traffic is managed.

    Hi,

Just to go back to parking in a supermarket for one moment. Like Caj, I park front end in because you can't fit a shopping trolley down the side of two parked cars in order to fill the boot. Simples. If someone beeps me because I am in their way with a trolley I would have no hesitation with stopping dead right there and then and causing as much aggro as possible, but then again I am no little old lady frightened of some plank in a chav-mobile.

Have you noticed on some of suburban main roads they've deliberately stopped you travelling in two lanes, by the addition of cycle lanes and over-wide central reservations where there are pedestrian crossing points?

Why are cycle lanes rarely used if at all?
Are people waiting for the local authorities to provide the bicycles?

Cycle lanes are what would be commonly called "lip-service". Similar to the supermarkets who sell hemp-like shopping bags and still hand out the free plastic ones at the till.

All this "plastic bag saving" amuses me.
We use Tesco's and Sainsbury's free plastic bags in which we bring home our shopping, to put our rubbish in.
If they didn't give them away, we'd have to buy some. So what's the point of all that?

It prompts a wry smile from myself aswell, of course there is no point, it is again, lip-service.

I seem to remember something along those lines actually happened in Holland I believe.

You could take a bike and leave it where you were going, for another user.

I think they all got nicked.
Nice to know its not just over here that are dishonest:lollol:
