Hi folks. Things have moved on since the last pics, so I thought I'd share another.

They look as if they're going to be as good as last year, if the tops are anything to go by. I think I planted them too close though, we'll see.
    Cheers...freddy.

Well done freddy, you put me to shame, I've had no end of problems getting my parsnips to germinate this year (I think it was old seed) - I'm on my third batch so far and probably too late now.

Mine were grown in bog-roll and newspaper pots, with an inch of John Innes Seed compost at the top, kept nicely moist etc. I doubt they could have had better germinating conditions ... so I'm pretty sure the seed was old, or just from a poorly germinating batch. I've read of lots of people with poor Parsnip germination this year - can't all be miserly people trying to plant seed they've had for decades :)

My first batch were old seed (maybe two years old) and hardly any germinated. So I've got new seed and the direct soil sowings are poking through (after 2 weeks) and my bog roll batch have taken 8 days to germinate. They will be late by the time I get the bog roll batch outdoors but I'm sure they will catch up.

Freddy you have done well with your parsnips look wonderful and so much growth too.

I must admit ours aren't much to shout about in fact it's a case of spot them on our plot, I sowed them a little too sparse and far apart but then again we aren't too keen on them really so that's lucky for us!:D Hel.xxx.
