    You need to protect those young peas as soon as they get above the soil if they're ever to grow up, go to university, get married, etc. Slugs will have them certainly, but Mr and Mrs Pigeon are possibly a greater threat. The first row of peas I ever planted were 3-4 cms high one evening and gone by next morning - just a few scraps of leaves left by the pigeons. So, quick! Rush out to the garden with pellets and netting!

    i put in a row of peas end of first week of july. they were up in five or six days. Now they are 18'' high and in flower.:)

    Flinty God help the slug or bird who dares to lay a feather of slug trail on my babies, they are getting bigger by the minute..Gawd I never thort of Skool fees etc. Are peas from the same pod identical? and how many do you get in a pod? I could have sextuplets :)
    Until 3 weeks ago I thort they grew in tins :(

    Well being a bit of an expert in peas.....when you open the pod, you will immediately see that they are green.:thumb:

    Unless they are purple peas.

    I do hope you are not being Purpleist Tweakles.
    Errr whats the best way to support em when they grow I dont mean sodding financially I mean nets, canes HOW????? Do you put them inside the nets? Pics would help you all know im thick

    Thanks for asking these questions Nut as its just what I needed to know. Looks like I'll be building myself a pea support just as soon as it stops raining

    They will do best in full sun, but I've grown them partly in the shade without problems.
    As for support I just stick twigs in to stop them flopping all over, they cling to the twigs and each other. I have never built a proper support - lifes too short!

    How tall does the support need to be and then Ill stop asking questions on peas :)
