Ach, you know what I am like! I'm the same whenever I go into a garden centre - go in for tomato food and come out with twenty packets of seeds, and about ten trays of plants!

Never would have thought that I would see the day to be honest - I got my first garden four years ago, and it wasn't all that much - in fact, it took me til the third year to take much of an interest in it.

Use any bags for spuds..I've used old compost bags here...

A few inches of compost/soil..then pop 3 seed tatties in and cover with some more compost/soil..job done (dont forget to pierce a couple of holes in the side for drainage).

As they grow you'll need to earth up and you can do this with copost if you have it, or grass clippings, shredded paper, old leaves etc etc. The aim no is to exclude light to any tubers growing on the stem as they grow so any old soil, compost will do..I've even used the previous years hanging basket contents along with leaves shredded paper and grass clippings.

Before I got my allotments I used to raid the neighbours green bins for graas clippings (I did have permission) and the church next door used to give me theirs too.

And at the end of the growing season I would empty the whole bag onto my beds or into the compost heap...double bonus!

              Steve...:)
