This is a very personal photo, nothing special for anyone other then me and MrsW. But for us it's rather special. For almost 20 years we've gone for our summer break to a Greek island and on the island there's a tamarisk tree and we've lain under its shade more or less every day. We've often shared it with locals and as a consequence developed friendships that over time have resulted in us being included more in island and local family life than average holiday visitors.
Last summer (2013) we returned from a walk one day and found this notice on the tree!

              Lovely moment captured.
Magical, innocent years. Such a pity they can't last longer.

One I'm really proud of is from my final assignment of Steve R's Manual Photography course, it's the Spinaker Tower, Portsmouth, there just happened to be a charity abseil going on:

It may not be the best I've ever taken, but this photo, taken on a Boxing Day walk with my two daughters has lots of meaning for me.

We'd just been on our annual Christmas 'visit' to see my family, in the nearby churchyard just across the meadows.

It's something we do together every year. I have five generations of ancestors resting in that churchyard and we like to wander around looking at the gravestones while I tell the girls all about my parents and grandparents, (who all died before my daughters were born), as well as all the other family history and stories.

We then go off for a wander across the meadows and down by the river nearby, where I spent many happy hours as a boy, as did my father and grandfather before me.

It's a yearly ritual which the girls have always enjoyed since they were small and although they are now both in their twenties, it was lovely to see them still happily romping around like a couple of carefree children as we strolled around those places which hold so much meaning for me. :)

Trunky, I think it's a good thing to pass on the family history and stories, our children should know about their roots. :)
