Hi Golcarlilly my hubby and I find the best way to deal with the little critters (that's the snails of course not your kittens) is to go out in the evenings armed with a torch and a bucket and hand pick as many as you can...might seem hard wrok but it's blooming great fun although the neighbours might think of you as a bit of a looney with all the giggling that goes on! :D Hel.xxx.

HK. If you ever tasted Tesco's 2% beer you would know why I reserve it for the snails and slugs (and number 2 son). Believe me you wouldn't thank me for a BBQ if that was what I served.

I am also going to have to go organic, now I have a puppy - who will eat anything, including snails - I have used pet friendly pelets before and found that frankly they just don't work, I have tried the sort of gravelly stuff you are supposed to put round your plants, that doesn't work either. I usually go out in the rain on an evening and collect them - then put them in the wheelie bin - think I'll try the beer traps!

Ellie, if you`ve got a snail eating puppy, then take advantage. If you teach it to eat slugs as well you are sorted. [IMG] [IMG] :D

I like the collecting them idea but don't think I would dare put them in my wheelie bin, my bin men are really strict and don't even empty the bin if there are any weeds or grass clippings in so they would have a hissy fit if I put snails in  maybe i could 'liberate' them in some woodland area?

Mrs shiney has bought some slug pubs. I managed to get the Sainsburys cheap beer at 97p for four. Do Tesco do it cheaper?

I collect up the snails in my garden and either throw them over the fence into the car park next to our house or else I put them in the recycling bin like I did last year.I will have to stop throwing them over the fence once the house is built next to us or else I might get it in the neck with our new neighbours if one lands in their glass of lager [IMG] :D
