Phal leaves on one of my going yellow

    Thank you both for your help :) Sorry it wasnt a very good picture but used my phone as camera left by mistake at my sons. Ive only had that orchid since September and was the first i bought. There is compost in it. I have since bought 5 more orchids since that one and have checked them all carefully as they have all been grouped together and it looks as though the rest are starting to get the white stuff on them so looks like i may well lose the lot :( I also googled mealy bugs and they can be in the plant for 6 months before problems start. I will try treating the others and see what happens.

    What do the roots look like?

    apart from the worst one affected the roots are mostly green but can actually see the white cotton wool like stuff on the roots now of those in the clear pots.

    Is it like very fine spider webs?

    no, its like small pieces of cotton wool and i can actually see the things moving.

    Thanks for the link, thats exactly what they look like and the leaves look like :(

    Just searches pests and diseases forum and found someone else posted on there about mealy bugs, looks like they very hard to get rid of so perhaps best to bin the first one and try to treat the rest. A lesson learnt here for the future in checking plants when ive bought them.

    You will have to re-pot them too.
