No, it didn't work @kazzawazza, the phone end didn't seem to fit my phone, or atleast my phone didn't know it was attached, the plug didn't fit too well and I didn't want to damage the socket on the phone as I'd not be able to charge it up then.

Bit the bullet today and went in carphone warehouse, dunno why, I didn't want a car phone

Anyway it took about an hour and a half but ended up with a new Samsung on, god forbid, Virgin,:yikes: as I was told they use the EE network.
See how it goes, should get my number transferred on Monday.

They had a fair old time trying to transfer my data, it took ages, but got there in the end.

            Hi,

Been with VM for some years, their custom service used to be first class though since the take over not seemed as good.
Network coverage etc always been good, though thats really down to your local area ?

              Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help with a little phone problem I have.

Its when you come to make a call, you have the various sub menus like Contacts,Recent etc. and when going though them find it only too easy to accidentally catch something that starts a call to a number I was not intending.

Is there a function within Android or an App that will hold up the call and give me a "Are you Sure Y/N" option to the call, so being able to cancel and avoid annoying the recipient ?

Well I'm with VM for phone and internet, which is why I have some reservations, but the phone is unlocked and I' on a one month contract of a VM sim.
So hopefully I can easily change if I want to.

I'm with Vodofone. I don't find them any bother.
I paid fifteen quid for my phone a few years ago. It's "pay as you go."
It will send text messages (I don't) and has no camera. I just keep it in the car for possible emergencies, so far there's been none. But I do keep it alive by phoning home from the golf club car park, once a week to find out if there's any "justgetmes" on the way home. There aren't usually any.

As they say, what you never had you never miss.

Mobiles were never that essential until the phone companies convinced most of the public that they are.

If you have a dual sim phone, in Settings>Sim Cards>Voice Calls, there's an option for 'Ask every time' for which sim to use which stops the call until a selection is made, also enabling a call to be aborted.

Why would I need another phone? I hardly use the one I've got.

My obsevation on mobile phones, is that they are much like the electronic tags worn by criminals, so that their location is always known.

In fact it's worse, as the phone companies not only know who you are, but also where you are and what you do.

It amuses me that my daughter and her partner change their phones each year. Well.... He changes his, he runs much of his IT business through it and the old one gets passed on to her and so on. Their two youngest girls, at junior school, have over a dozen phones between them. They aren't connected, they are just for playing "phone shops"

Last year I had a letter published in the Daily Mail, (I've had several over the years, they are usually gentle **ss takes on some aspect of society)
As a joke, I said, "As I frequently dine in restaurants, although I was fully aware of the positioning of plates and cutlery on a dining table, I was ignorant of the exact location where the mobile phone should be placed and perhaps an expert on dining etiquette could advise me."

A couple weeks latter a female contributor responded with.
"The correct location for a mobile phone on a restaurant dining table is in the water jug!"

Well it had to happen one day.

O2 went down just the other day. It must have seemed like 'end of the world' scenario to many. Business people lost out etc. In such a short time, the mobile phone has taken over peoples lives. In my local High Street, you get pedestrians stopping in the middle of the road to take a call or to text. Many users have so much information stored on the phone. What did folk do...............before mobile phones.

I first bought one and signed up with Voda phone. My late wife used to visit her mother on the IOW, and I couldn't imagine Val, breaking down onthe M25 etc and having to struggle to the next SOS phone.

Then my daughter talked me into signing up with Videotron for a land line, numerous company name changes and I am now with Virgin, just for landline and broadband.. I seldom use the landline. Broadband I use daily. My present mobile is with 3 @ £5 per month.

I have learned, never to trust any verbal conversations with Virgin staff. Having complained some time ago about my bill. I got the usual patter. You are a valid customer etc. Your charges will never increase. My chatges went up, so I complained. I only have a landlone and broadband. I don't have any special bundles etc. The barstewards halved my internet speed and kept my bill as standard. Now it has generally increased. I hate chopping and changing. Seems these companies want you to chop and change.

Perhaps Virgin might still be a good company but. I am on direct cable and at times it takes ages to connect with the internet service. Then. They are carrying out repairs etc. Surely modern technolology allows a swith over so that customers are not affected.

I'm going to have another tipple, i'm at the hospital tomorrow.
