    That's what I was trying!

Roders, I deleted a couple of hundred or more photos from my original account but it still remained the same amount used:wallbanging:

Stating the obvious but did you log out and back in afterwards?

Probably, would that make a difference?

I'm not qualified to give a definitive answer but when I reset my spam filter on my email I had to log out and log in for them to be applied.

Yes. I agree. One external 2TB hard drive for time machine backups. One 1TB for photo backups and one 500 MB for video.

I had photos backed up on a external hard drive.
Dropped it on the floor, kaput, so no pics other than those on DVD.

Wouldn't trust external hard drives for anything special.

        :coughs:

Can I just leave this here

I have one of these, and it is a cracker of a device. I regularly stream music from it via my phone wherever I am, and in principle it works the same as any cloud storage such as Photobucket etc, with the difference being that you own the server. I have the 6Tb version, which is 3Tb for server and 3Tb for backup (RAID 0 by default), however can in theory be used as a 6TB server if required. Daisy chaining them together for even more storage is possible.

That's why I have everything backed up on two extra drives as well as still left on the C Drive. Anal, or what? :roflol:

@fat controller That looks like a good idea but I expect you still need a pretty good upload rate to load them onto the server (apart from the fact that we don't have any other smart devices :heehee:).

That's why our computer is wired into our other drives. Data, including photos, is also stored on another drive kept elsewhere, just in case the house burns down or is burgled. I back that up every so often.

The idea is that you would upload them at home across your own network, so assuming that your camera connects to a wired PC, the data transfer should in theory be almost as fast as the drive write speed (100 megabits per second assuming you are on Cat5)

I do transfer the photos by wire :blue thumb:. I've just downloaded 500+ photos and it took eight minutes. Apart from going to make a cuppa I continued sorting out my emails.

The backup to my three other hard drives is done during the night. The computer does run a little bit slower if I want to do something at the same time - but I also run slower around three in the morning :heehee:

Therein lies the beauty of this wee fella - it backs up on the fly, has its own processor and RAM to assist so no load whilst backing up, and works beautifully with the likes of AllwaySync which means as you update your chosen folder on your PC, it automatically (assuming you have set it to do so) copies it to your cloud drive (10 min delay at default), and then that in turn backs it up on the fly.

I'm a Flickr fan too. And yep, it's 1TB of storage.
