Once a friend come to me for an advice about buying a house and how try to avoid bad neighbours , I told him the best thing to do is to go on the first floor and look at the garden and then looking at both neighbours garden , an house with a bad garden is an unloved house only nice peoples will care about the garden .
Your garden would have told me that your house had belonged to an old couple or similar and your garden was once a loved garden.
You`ve done a really great job , now just let it grow :blue thumb:

your right sal, the house has only had one owner before us, a couple who bought it new in 1938. the lady who lived here (husband died before her) was reputedly one of the few lady gynaecologists. the house had not been touched since they bought it, except for partial central heating when it first came popular, and a first gen patio window. it had been loved for and cared for, as well as the garden. it looked like as she got older, she couldn't do the garden anymore, other than a few basics. the house and garden had and still has a lovely warm feeling to it. its definately a happy home for us. i hope and think the lady would approve of the alterations i've made to it.

i have kept nearly all the original build features of the house inside, and out, except for the windows/doors and guttering. i haven't had time at all to even start the front garden and drive, its a mess!! overgrown, dead and a site. hopefully, i'll make a start on that by the end of this year.

Same with me , an old couple was living in my house and then was empty for 2 years ....the garden was a jungle , I really regret that didn`t make any picture , she really cared about the garden , that why inside i started to care and care more about the garden.

Wow - what an amazing job!!

Almost makes me want to have some grass in our garden again!! Shame it doesnt stay like that though huh :)

I love your rattan furniture. Its supposed to stay looking nice for a long time too which is a real bonus.

Keep the pics coming as you update :)

That rattan furniture is very popular in Cyprus, not our problem but the sun bleaches it

                      thanks for the compliment :)

the rattan was bought about a month ago. it was a chore sanding down and re-finishing my wooden furniture and in the end it rotted and broke so i decided to buy this instead. suprisingly comfy but a bit too low for Mrs Al at the moment (she's 37.5 weeks pregnant)

Fantastic job :dbgrtmb:, can't wait to see photos when they've grown on a bit, it'll look awesome......black or dark brown fences are definitely the way to go too, they're not in your face but are a great back-drop for plants..:blue thumb:
