right heres what i did. some people have other ways.but it works for me
step 1,, buy pineapple.(sainsbury's ones seem the better ones) but make sure it as good middle foilage. doesnt matter if out leaves are batter'd it will be ok as long as middle is there.
2, grab pine apple fruit in one hand and other hand on the leaves nearest to fruit.and twist the ruot stock out.
clean off any fruit if any there.
and leave on window sill for about 1 day.to dry a little.
3, remove lower leaves about an inch up the rootstock and will see roots, they're like brownish strands,
4, get a glass or any thing that the root stock will sit comfortably on with out tipping over.
5, fill with slightly warm water untill roots are just sitting ontop off water.
when roots get long enough, just plant in good moist compost.
. if foilage starts getting bigger, you've done it.
they can grow to a meter and a half long and about 1meter high, so make sure you have some where to grow it.
soz about grammar not very good at writing topics lol

Keep your fingers crossed Marley, I find they have an uncanny liking to winter flowering, or at least spring, the one I have in flower now is the latest I have had one flower.

I do know that bromelliads are strange, and can be brought into flower by ethylene gas, I think its ethylene, its given off by ripe fruit, so a few rotting apples placed around the plant might help:gnthb:

I've sorted out my pineapple top. I hope it grows. Also whilst I was eating my last bit of pineapple, I found a single pineapple seed! I'm going to try and germinate it too.
