I wouldn't even attempt to suggest a suitable replacement really as I have no real experience of your heat.
My only suggestion would be to visit your local garden centre and find out what everyone else is growing, whatever it is, its bound to be interesting. There's bound to be other passion flowers that would really like that position, its more a matter of reading up on them and then finding a source.
A grapevine would be obvious, but I expect thats boring out there, plus whatever you choose, I think your going to struggle in a container, what with the watering. [IMG] :(

Thanks, Pete. I got that from a garden centre! I think the problem is so many plants are brought on in greenhouses predominantly in Holland and the labels usually say "full sun". I could do a Campsis perhaps or maybe a grape. The pot is on irrigation.

Thanks for all your help with this!

Yes you could but with irrigation can you keep up with the feeding.
So you get plants from Holland as well?
They have some really strange growing instructions on them, usually good plants though.

I have to feed all the other plants manually, even those on irrigation.

Most of the garden centres here are run by the Dutch ... makes sense! although one I particulary like is Portuguese run. The plants are always healthy. We've been frequenting one Dutch nursery since around 1990. Most of the seeds we buy here, which is precious few, are either French or Italian!

I do usually try to read up on plants I buy beforehand but definitely made an "erro grande" with the Passiflora! :D I saw it, had wanted one, they only had one .....

Thanks Pete. Did you still want seeds, assuming it produces some?

This is the Algoz one, Sis? Lovely ... my pink passion couldn't cope with the heat here but obviously this one can as you "appropriated" it nearby to me ... [IMG]

    Thanks Sis, Fancy and Walnut.

After visiting Germany, ours will be going back home to Portugal one day as it is getting to be too much for in our WG. So decide where it will go Sis. We had been thinking of cutting it back and putting it outside but then I saw the buds, so have left it for the timebeing. Was it you Pete (without me looking back) who said that it might not flower if cut back? The flowers do seem to be all towards the tips.

It might have kedi, I find most passion flowers grow a lot of leaves after pruning before starting to flower again.
Thanks for the seed offer, but I cant accomadate much more at the moment, especially something that can get that big.

Hi Fancy, I have made a note that Fancy fancies the seeds!

My runner beans are going great guns now and have started to flower. They are growing up the trellis and now going along the clothes lines! When the sun comes out I'll take a pic of them for you.

I love that little bug runnung around - now that I know it isn't actually on my screen!
