Planes up close, especially the old ones, are awesome to see. Dad loves the Spitfire and has seen them at a show aswell as Lancasters.

I think we all like to see a Spitfire Fonzie, just something about the way it appears to fly so effortlessly, combined of course with that distictive growl of the merlin engine. [IMG]

Our father was a Spitfire pilot and flew 326 missions before being shot down into the English Channel. He had his pilot's license at age 16 ... before he had a driver's license!

Yes, Cutie, both Sis and I are, and pete, too true.

He died last year aged 92 having spent a lot of his latter working career in aeronautical engineering, designing Boeing engines, etc, working along with NASA (as t'other half and I did). He personally knew Werner von Braun and Neil Armstrong ... some on here will know who they are. [IMG]

Another good pic pete ... walnut, we still have them here. :D

Evening, pete, and a very good holiday season to you. [IMG]

Lovely thread actually, very different but certainly to my liking as you know I love aircraft.

Might be able to dig up some other pics for t'other half to scan ... and maybe you can find some more. [IMG]

I'm stupidly excited about the heli now ... want it now ... can't wait four months ...

Happy new year to you and yours LoL.
As you've probably guessed Christmas is not my favourite time of year.

Thought the "Planes", thread would bring a few plane spotters out of the woodwork, at this dismal time of ther year. [IMG]

And a Happy New Year to you too, pete, when it gets here ... but no doubt we'll speak before then anyway. [IMG]

Christmas is neither here nor there for us either ... we don't give each other presents and don't eat lots ... why do people have to eat twice as much at Christmas than the rest of the year? We like all the lights which t'other half strings everywhere imaginable.

At least you tried and a few of us are enjoying it. [IMG]
