Just another tip , when you are sowing your seeds next year , make out your plant labels first. Then you can stick them in the seed tray as soon as you have sown them . Because you really wont remember if you make them out after. Just hope I can follow this next year !

When I go to my plot to sow seeds I put all the seed packets and pre-written labels in the likes of a Family Circle plastic biscuit box, together with some spare labels and a marker pen. It's all too easy leaving empty packets as temporary markers and then suddenly running for home when the heavens open and on return wondering exactly what was sown where.

It's the same in the greenhouse, when I open a packet of seeds I also always write the label before sowing them. All too easy to get distracted and end up with 2 seed trays and 2 empty seed packets and no labels.

P.S. These are my wooden plant labels - I got 300 (6 pkts of 50 @10p each) for 60p last year!

For long term labels for shrubs etc, I cut strips from disposable alloy pie dishes and then 'emboss' the names with a biro or blunt pencil.
