Is the old fashioned cheese plant, aka Swiss cheese plant not a candidate?

I've not had one for years, probably since before I moved house, but I remember them being indestructible.

Side story. Years and years ago I and a mate were walking my dog on the beach. The dog found a stick, and we were throwing the stick for the dog, playing tug of war with it, the stick was getting chewed, and it was generally having a bad time. Then my mate saw what he thought was the tiniest hint of root, so much to my amusement, he took it home and planted it. This led to a great deal of banter and mockery, right up until it developed green shoots. It grew into a cheese plant. For real. I fully understand that none of you will believe me. I wouldn't believe this story if I hadn't witnessed it myself.
