would Semprevivums be visible in the trough ?

I've tried to grow partridge berry but they died quickly, will lingonberry be easier to grow ?

Sempervivums would work, although they might not be visible enough for you, Sedums would also work.
I'd forget fruit, those that meet your requirements would all appreciate cooler damper conditions than you would probably have, unless you are in Northern parts and would need ericaceous compost rather than multipurpose.
I'd go for a free draining mix in the trough and plant up with low growing herbs, such as thyme, oregano, Origanum "Kent Beauty" would look good, you would have to cut the flower stems off when they were finished.
You might have to hunt around a bit to find some of the Thymes.

I think it would also help if you can state whether you mean berries for you to eat, or whether they're for wildlife @hi2u_uk .
Lingonberries are a nice shout if the conditions will suit them.

You'll need a soil based mix if the plants are to be permanently in that trough - compost alone won't be any good as it's too lightweight.

It would also really help if you give your approx. location, for the reason @NigelJ states.
