I went out this morning to buy a friend's birthday present - she expressed an interest in '.... a couple of Wilko's cheapie hanging baskets..' Is this relevant to the thread? Errrr, well - judge for yourselves.

Wilko's were right out of the size she wanted so - damn and blast it! - I've no option but to go to the garden centre. I get baskets and brackets and buy a couple of extras as well intending to plant 2 up with something nice, leaving her to choose what she wants in the others. What to plant for her? Tomatoes perhaps? She's only got a tiny garden and has never grown veg (yes, I know they're a fruit, this is no time to be pedantic ), so I decide on two 'Tumbling Tom' plants and add a small tray of cut-and-come-again salad leaves plus a trough for her to grow them in and proceed to the check-out.

So that's 4 hanging baskets, 4 brackets, 2 tomato plants, a tray of salad leaves and a plastic trough. £62.67p. Oh! didn't I mention the 2 baskets and brackets I bought for my garden, and the 2 tomato plants, the tray of salad leaves, the 5 for 4 herbaceous perennials, the dwarf bedding dahlias, the Salix Hakuro Nishiki and the bag of multi-purpose? Must have slipped my mind!! :dh:
