Planting in heavy shade

    Try.... Iris foetidissima (evergreen, orange seeds)

    - periwinkle (vinca)- variegated sorts, pretty blue flowers

    - spotted/variegated laurel (aucuba japonica) - can also have berries

    eleagnus - maculata or "Gilt Edge"

    epimediums.... oh, and euonymus "Emerald Gaity"

    euphorbia wulfenii

    lastly, I grow lonicera nitida "Baggenses Gold" in even the worst sort of dry shade - it loses its gold colour in shade, but still looks decent and evergreen. Good luck!
