I began using ImageShack as I lost my images on Photobucket and despite their help couldn't get them back. So I had to find another image hoster and Imageshack is free, doesn't need you to register, and allows automatic sizing for pictures and avatars which is important for those of us who aren't all that familiar with file sizes, compression etc. One disadvantage for me is that I have to upload images one at a time as the toolbar isn't Mac compatible, but I don't have enough pictures for it to worry me.

The avatar facility is great- I had awful problems with them at first because I didn't, indeed don't fully understand why images have the file size, no. of pixels and no. of Mbs that they do, and Photo bucket has a lot of stuff about 'resize or compress' that I found confusing.
I'd recommend it rather than Photobucket just because of this! [IMG]

This ones just for liz its a long way up
When i was in imageshack they have a multible image upload center. Buy more credits and it does say 500 imageshack credits £4.99
    1,000 £8.99
    2,000 £15.99
Dont know what all this means, how long have you been with imageshack liz or do you think it means iff you are not using it a lot or after a while of using them will they eventually ask us for money.

Hi rosa, I am using it as a free service, as I haven't yet needed any of their paying options. If you go to ImageShack and then my images on the right is the section saying Multiple Image Upload Center, where it says 'buy more credits': Underneath that it says 'more about credits' which if you click on it explains the extra facilities they supply if you buy credits.
They won't eventually start charging according to their rules at the moment, there is no limit to the number of pictures you can have.
It amazes me how these sites fund themselves, must be from advertising!

rosa, you can just delete some of the pictures when you no longer need them so that you never reach the maximum figure! If you do need that many then probably worth a few quid to store them. ;)

thanks dag, now there is a thing i will have to figure out deleting them from imageshack that will be fun and games.
I doubt very much that i will get up to 500 that will be quite a lot of storage do you reckon and thats assuming imageshack do this. [IMG]

Can you tell me where you find the stuff about resizing or compressing on Photobucket please. I have looked and cannot see it.
And if you copy and paste the third line under the thumbnail in PB you do not need to put {img] etc in your message.
I send my pictures to PB at the size I want them to appear on screen. The Image resizing algorithm on some of these photosites is very 'lossy' so I prefer to do it so I can see the result before posting. When I have a lot to do as in a garden inviation with 60 plus I use a Batch resize option in Fine Pix, which came with the Camera.

If I remember rightly, above each picture were the options move, edit, delete- click edit?
