I have had them in the past, I once had mild cold symptoms the following day, might just have been a coincidence.

Being a new member I had noted that you had been unwell in one of your posts but didn't realise that you had been as ill as this. Good to hear that you are on the mend. You and your family must have been through hell during this time.

Oh dear, FC, what a horrific time for you and family. It's so good that you are getting better and even able to return to work. Thank you so much for sharing your experience - I have just been put on drugs for very severe rheumatoid arthritis (caused by your immune system turning against your own body) and was told to get a flu jab and also the pneumonia one as these drugs depress your immune system. I had "not got round to it" but have now made an appointment as a result of reading your post. Thank you.

Thanks too for the warning for all of us reading it:)

Oh wow @Fat Controller ! Like the others, I realised that you had been ill, then seriously ill, but had no idea it was caused by suppressed immune system and 'flu. Having read your story, I realise again how lucky I was when my immune system was taken out about 10 years ago. Food poisoning (at the time), cataracts and arthritis seems a doddle in comparison.

Huge respect to your missus, for taking on the burden of looking after you at home ❤️❤️.

I will be asking my doctor about the 'flu jab when I next see him....

We had the shivers for a wee while last night, then we had a roasting hot spell for an hour or so, and then this morning my left shoulder was a bit achey - - but to be honest, it wasn't much more than a bit of a rough night, and I feel absolutely fine today.

Believe me, it is so much better than the alternative - I would take a day or so of feeling a bit rough over actually getting the flu.

Thank you all for your kind words, and it is really pleasing to see so many of you are actually going to get the jab - that was my sole intention with this thread.

I have always cherished my family and friends, but I have to say that is even more-so now - Mrs C has worked miracles (and I will of course pay that back in spades over the coming years), and I am eternally grateful for all the support I have received from friends; for those that are too gracious to accept any form of pay back, well I will 'pay it forward' instead, be that via charities or directly helping others.
