You can make them bloom year after year even in a conservatory ... the secret is to let them drop their leaves and 'rest' for about four months after blooming. Then cut them back and off they go again! [IMG] You can't let them sit in water either or they will rot! :(

I love cyclamen as well, have three of them but the middle one, a deep purple several years old now is just getting its buds, being a bit of a late starter this year ...

My fuchsia's are having a rest to the left!

It's great to get these reminders that what we think of as indoor plants aren't really - they just have to be indoors for us, but they're outside plants where they're natives, of course!!

    That's a lovely plant, LoL - and you're looking good too! :D

I managed to get one to reflower for a couple of years, some time back.
Its good for an experiment, but unless you have the right place for it to grow its all a bit much I found.

Never had much luck with these plants ,they tend to be moved too often between varying temperatures before you get them.

Look nice, M-L ... our patios are green and we won't bother to do anything till the spring as we're in rain season.

Used to have a hedge of poinsettias when we lived in Zambia and the flowers were 2 ft across. Ahh, seeing yours takes me back... [IMG]

My poinsetta is still alive.. I got it from sainsburys before xmas and all though its dropped some leaves new buds keep coming and its got tall..its on a windowledge with a radiator underneath so its warm and airy..
I know this is going off the subject slightly but i have grown a piece of root ginger i got from the supermarket its now over 2 foot tall since about november last year..i saw some of you had grown some so i thought i would give it a whirl..

Well done, wildflower. My leaves and petals are dropping now also so I shall be hacking it back to about a metre next month. Cut back on the watering whilst it's "resting" and hopefully it will come back but it does like a couple of months' rest.

My ginger rooted from the grocery store root has now died off in the ground but I'm just going to leave it and see what happens in the Spring.

I have got my ginger in the house i shall have to buy it a bigger pot as its really tall now but it looks healthy it was just a piece of root ginger and i left it on a ledge and two buds appeared ..so i chopped it in two ..and started the two plants off..
Well i shall have to repot the poinsetta as well at some stage as its still in the small plant pot you get from the supermarket..I hope to keep it going as long as i can as its really quite attractive..
