I sent a photo of rotted bulbs to farmer gracy who sent out another 5 free of charge so trying again. They are in pots in the unheated greenhouse and being kept dryer but a few questions, do you cover the whole bulb or leave the growing tip uncovered? How often do you water? Do they need more heat? I have a heated propagator I could use?
      Hope someone can advise. Thanks

Hi, plant them with about an inch of compost over the top. Dampen the compost but no more water until they start shooting. Like most plants, the more leaves they have the more water they need. Water sparingly but daily once they're growing strongly. They shouldn't need extra heat at this time of year if the pot is kept somewhere sunny and sheltered.

Bear in mind it comes under the same family as Agave and needs heat to do well, its ok if you get 35c or 40c degree summers like @noisette47 gets, us up here have to struggle through with the odd day here and there.

Its still warmer than here, a measly 18c with a howling northerly wind.
          Night temperatures are still cold.

Hello, quick update, 4 plants are looking green and healthy only one has a flower spike just waiting for the buds to open.
Will the plants overwinter in an unheated greenhouse in the West Midlands? Maybe if I can get them growing again next year I will get more flowers.

Hiya, well done! Mine are kept barely frost-free and dry in their pots up against the house wall. I'd say they'll be OK but if your temps dip to -2C or lower, best put them somewhere cool and dark in the house. They don't need light once the foliage has died back.

I've got one flowering in my porch the scent is overpowering as the evening comes on.
My plants got overtaken by rsm so are struggling a bit, but I have sprayed them.
