If you have about 50 m2 to sacrifice for the sake of a pond like this and you are not as foolish as me and you make it in a shape that can easily be temporarily glasshoused for winter, then I think you might as well have a go for it. Never for one instant have I regretted one single square inch of the ponds, it's amazing how Nature works in them!

What you can see in my avatar is about half of the smaller one (~42m2), and this is the one I used as a swimming-pool in summer before the waterlilies took over... And if you can use it only in summer, that is still an option. :luv:

Just told my partner about these and he says we don't have the room. It's the chickens or a natural swimming pool.

He has a good point, but still, humph...

    Poor little, abandoned topic... k-l

Brought some of the latest photos how the ponds and their surroundings look like now that summer arrived with even more rain that we ever wished for. I'm planning to stay on a bit more stable basis now that the garden has undergone a considerable amount of weeding and replanting - in the ordinary, waterless borders... First I had to do all the work by myself but now it's time for some fun! :)

Pictures are in the 2010. Summer album: http://picasaweb.google.com/kodelottem/

I also uploaded some of the lost photos that used to be illustrations for the old messages, they're in the oldest album cleverly entitled 'Pictures from the Garden'

Thanks very much, Kindred! Unfortunately I have very little time recently, so I cannot visit the forums as often as I'd like to either...

There's very little change to last year's looks, perhaps a little weeding would improve the margin of the ponds... One is spoilt by the way nature works in it and very often I don't have the heart to disturb what has grown right there from seed all by themselves... Anyway, I'll check back once or twice, it's been a busy month for us. :)
