Here is Pickles home again. He was so pleased to see his people again. Once home he seems a little worried!

He won't try to walk but he can sit up. Lots of nursing for a while.
Very grateful to all the hospital staff. His nurses came to wave goodbye [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Welcome home, Pickles ... [IMG]

Liz, he'll be a little edgy about the surroundings ... but true care, tenderness and love (from the heart) win over every time. I nursed Boo (Magic Sam) for months and he's still a blessing to me as you know. [IMG]

Blessings to those who cared for him in the hospital and all the best for a wonderful new year for all of you. [IMG] xx

Supprising how quickly they recover from things like this Liz.
They dont have any worries that can hold them back like us humans do.
Hope he does well, dont see why not, your all doing your best.

So glad you've got Pickles home again.
The vets and nurses and Willows are great.

Another picture later looking a bit happier with his boy and his kitten [bottom right]

Had a bit of a scare when he wouldn't touch his dinner- Bella rang Willows and asked what he had been eating there, and they said chicken-not flavoured dog food, real chicken... problem solved! He'll have to carry on being spoilt.
Thanks everyone for the all the lovely messages- it is amazing how fast animals will recover. He's trying to stand today!

Just seen this thread-I'm pleased Pickles is home and on the mend. Keep us all updated on the little beauties progress. My dog had a leg amputated and amazed everyone at her speed of recovery.. Hopefully soon the frizbees will be flying again (Perhaps a little slower though-Eh?) Love and hugs to Pickles

Hi everyone, Happy New Year to all. I've been having more computer problems so couldn't get on site or post.
Here's Pickles latest pictures- he looks a bit sad in the park here but his life is much improved. Last week, after spending a while pulling himself around like a little seal [Bella said he was polishing the floor], he started trying to stand all the time. Now he can stand when he goes to the toilet [much relief all round!] and he tries to walk quite a lot. At Bella's birthday celebration last Saturday I took him out in the garden with the other 4 dogs and he was staggering around trying to play. She couldn't have had a nicer present!

This week he is going swimming to help him exercise.
The leg where his femur ball joint was removed is improving very quickly and he has no trouble putting weight on it. The other leg which was very badly bruised and enormously swollen is still causing him problems- he has trouble knowing where it is [they call it 'placement'] so there may be some nerve damage, but I'm sure by Summer he will be trotting if not running. We are beginning to undo all our crossed fingers and toes! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Finally managed to get my pictures of Pickles swimming sent to the computer: [IMG]

Bella said he enjoyed it and used both back legs really well! He will be going each week for a while.
Last Picture [through glass]is of him in the big box drier, which was quite funny.

This is the hydrotherapy place that the Willows surgeon recommended very highly- but as it isn't a member of the Canine Hydrotherapy Association insurance won't pay. :( Never mind, he's doing really well.

Hi Liz - I'm so glad to hear that little Pickles is making such a wonderful recovery and it does seem as though he will continue to do so. By the summer he'll outrun all of you again!

Give him a big hug and cuddle from me please.
