Yes please Jenny that looks lovely. Did i already ask you if you'd like some Himalayan Blue Poppy seeds when mine flower? They're almost out now, just waiting for the buds to open. I'll also have LadyBird Poppy seeds available soon which are flowering now.

Aaaaah - wish Himalayan Blue poppy would work in my garden but they won't sadly. How can you grow them? What's the secret? Would love to see a picture of them to drool over please....
Are the lady birds small or large (bearing in mind my postage stamp sized garden).

Aaaah Scorpio, I wish I could grow the blue poppy but I have tried and failed in a few gardens in my time. What is the secret? What conditions have you got that make them grow? I would love to see piccies of them to drool over anyway.
Please, what size are the Ladybirds, are the little like the Welsh ones? Only, I have just a tiny little garden and almost all I grow in it has to be minature sized. I have marked the calender and will send the yellow and tangerine ones IDC,
    Jenny

Well there's a lot of info around on what to do and what not to do such as plant them in Ericaceous Compost but i didn't. I'm sure i've also seen something around saying they don't like getting their leafies wet but i can't find it now. Basically i planted two last year in a normal bed exposed to full sun for first half of the day, normal dirt and compost mix, fed once a week and browning leaves removed as and when.

I do know not to let them flower in the first year of planting to give the roots a chance to establish, but mine hardly grew at all and I thought they died towards the end of last year, probably due to not using Ericaceous compost, so i bought two more and planted the new ones elsewhere, again same conditions, and the ones from last year made an appearance a few months ago. Now one of them has 3 buds on but the other is only half way there. The new ones haven't put anything on but i was expecting that so i'll see what they do next year. (EDIT) i just realised why one is only half way there. One is Betonicifolia and the other is Sheldonii. Not sure which is which though until i look at the labels.

The Ladybird Poppy is about 18 inches tall and about 12 inches wide with loads of buds and one flower so far. I'll do some pics over the weekend and post them here for all to see.

I doubt i'm the only one to have grown these but it is nice when something works against all reported odds.

All hands on deck we need this pic uploaded. From memory and without having a pic to upload to try, i think you click the "Upload a file" button, select the image from your desktop or similar, then save.

OK will do. I'll pop some HBP's in as well if you want to give them a go as my mum has them in pots so not much space needed. BTW the one that is flowering is a M. Betonicifolia. The other one currently half the size is M. Sheldonii so i expect that will come later on with a bit of Seeweed.
