Well this is crude work... I was pressed for time.

    This is a nicer specimen:

It was done with bits and pieces of wood and MDF I had accumulated in the workshop, than painted to simulate the rosewood/mother-of-pearl inlay.
That is the kind of work I prefer. When I am settled and done with the great works in the house I will finish the look of the porch furniture a bit better. :)

:thumb: Oh my goodness Ivory, your little table is fabulous, one would never have thought it was made from MDF..! What a little hidden talent you are..!! [IMG] I thought you were a little "professional" so to speak when you just "threw" the first part of the porch bench together..!!;):D Now we know why.:thumb::) I love your potting bench too. I would really like a little space like that..:D Ah well, will just make do with the old shed..!!:thumb::D

Lol, I thank you all, but woodworking is really not my job, just a hobby.

But I have always worked with heavy machinery for work (as a metal turner first, and then as a welder, but actually I was using all sorts of drills and things and machines I don't know how to call in english) , so I generally find wood tolerably easy.
Steel turning and welding may be a rather unusual (and damn heavy) job for a girl but I loved it wholeheartedly. In the last couple of years I passed to part time and got little garden related jobs in the spare time. And now I am a very happy housewife (for the time being) and having plenty of time for woodwork :D

This is the last thing I have been doing... all from pieces of wood and plastic I had left from former projects...

    Painted and finished...

Given the size of the materials I had it is little more than a toy, but hey, girls like toys :D. It is mostly intended for rooting cuttings, standing on the edge of the porch, but it could also be converted in a light box like Mike has. ALl the inside will be padded with silvery insulating material in any case, for additional warmth and light. :)

I have just seen this thread, Ivory, and have nothing but praise for you .... beautiful, professinal work. You are such a talented lady and I applaud you.

Did you install the glass bricks also? They give an element of privacy plus allows the light to come in. We have them dividing our two bathrooms (top 1/4 only :)) and on an outside wall next to the back door.

Nope, the glass bricks were already there, I like them a lot (except the four coloured ones, lol), especially because the place is really very windy from that direction, and the porch would be uninhabitable without them! I like the filtered light they let through. On the outside there is a huge forsythia, making shade in summer, in winter it is bare of course, and the sun can flood in. Very strategical! :)

I would love to wall the bathroom with them. Would feel like a sort of underwater place I think.

The ones in our kitchen wall are blue as the kitchen is predominantly white with yellow and blue bits and pieces .... very common but nice ten years ago so perhaps dated now.

We were going to have more between the two bathrooms but decided the head of a persson showing (not me, I'm too short :)) was enough to see in shadowy form from the other bathroom .... :D

I have nothing against coloured glass tiles as such, it's putting four of four different colours at random in a white wall that confuses me a bit ;)
Not that I lose much sleep on them, mind!

The next thing is a new bird feeder.

If I can affort the wood I will make a cupboard for the dining room in winter. I have two lovely turned walnut legs salvaged in a bric a brac market for it. :)
