Many thanks for your help and advice. As we have been given advice over insurance company's that are out of our range with money.
As we are looking for insurance how do you know which company is good or not. I don't want to spend x amount and find that they are a load of rubbish.
Also does vets only have certain insurance companies they deal with or should they deal with everyone
      Thanks

I used to use Direct Line, probably not the best, and they wont cover existing problems.
They also put the price up as the dog gets older.

But they always paid out when I needed them to, but I think they had a limit for each condition.

We know that petplan are the best one and vets will take any that the owner decides.
        Ours is petplan life insurance
        Classic
When they are 8 it goes up and again when 10 or something

        £64.99 a month for barley he's nearly 9
        £59.63 a month for berry he's 6 nearly 7.
We always have them when they're puppies at 7 weeks old so they don't have any health issues.

But barley had trouble with his elbows when he was 4 months old and had to have x-ray and scans on both elbows and then surgery on them to trim the cartilage. That took all of the money that we could claim for the year. But it was alright the next year.

What ever one you decide it has to be a life one or it's not worth it because you'll still be paying the same amount but not what you claimed for in the past.

@Logan , those prices are too much, you could almost put that much in tin in the cupboard at home  from day one.
I tend to think dogs that are highly bred seem to suffer with all kinds of ailments due to bad interbreeding.
If the puppy costs a lot of money to buy its going to be high maintenance right through its life.

I had thought of putting the money away instead but that happened to barley when he was 4 months, we wouldn't have had enough to pay for it, it was over £2000.0
Yes pedigree dogs are like that and golden retrievers the parents are scanned for hip dysplasia but the puppies can still get it. Some of the breeders don't have the elbows scanned and has trouble with the eyes and they get a lot of cancer especially lumps, some of ours had lumps removed and later has heamatomas in the ear flaps.

Well yes, I think its always going to be a gamble, to insure or not to insure.

But I always remember looking at the computer in the vets room, at the top of the screen in big letters.

              "INSURED"
Kind of green light to faff around and plump up the bill.

Maybe but we didn't have to pay for it.

Many thanks for your reply rocco is 4 Yr old frenchie we got him when he was 2 Yr old from a breeder that had personal issues. It took us a while to get all his paper work out of the breeder and info from old vet.
This is what we found out rocco is kc reg. With helped in making 147 puppy's so all though not been snipped he is in retirement. We get comments about rocco from other people who says what sort of breed is he? Due to his colour. He is cute. Is he a stud. Etc they ask about how much do we want to get rocco to mate with their dog. We say we don't know anything really about mating only what we have seen on the www and it says about contracts after that they don't seem Intrested.
Pets with no health issues insurance will be low. And high with health issues we saw a couple on www that the price was around £70 with health issues but unknown company etc.
We paid £600 for rocco a while after having problems with getting vets changed etc the old owner said I did not want to tell you but we paid £4.000 for him when they got him so a huge difference so bear this in mind it's one reason why we won't give him to anyone else to take to the vets

For what it's worth Gizmo it looks to me like he's itchy.
Some kind of skin problem perhaps.

The video worked, as Pete says he's got irritated skin. When dogs lick themselves they keep on doing it and make it worse, where ever it is.
Can you stop him in some way? does the skin look red or spotty? There's a cream that i use for ours, it's called Sudocrem, it's a baby cream for rashes it works well but you'll have to stop him from licking it off. Can get it from a supermarket.

Thank you for your reply rocco can get what the vet called folical infection around his whiskers on his face and treated with clx wipes daily. the only way that we see it happen is when rocco acts like a clown in the garden but he has not been in the garden for approx 2 weeks due to work in garden.
The licking he has done since we got him from the breeder. But the touching of his willy is new in the 2 yrs we have had him.
We spoke to 2 vets same practice 1 said can't rule out uti. 2 vet said irritation.
