    Morning everyone :D
Thankyou for all the comments. I did think about removing the car and it may be something I do in the future if I get this put on canvass.

In regards to the 'dirt' dot, I was hoping noone would spot this. Sadly it is not a dirt dot.. I'm not entirely sure what it is, even when I change the lens it is still visible, I have cleaned the glass inside the camera but this didn't get rid either, so I can only assume it is a fault in the ccd itself :( It annoys the hell out of me because I focus on it constantly but this is the first time anyone else has spotted it (or mentioned it), good eyes ;)

Here is the original without HDR editing,

Don't worry about saying what you think folks, I am not easily offended and tbh most of what has been said is things I already thought myself. I'm not easily offended these days :P

The camera was bought second hand from a friend and the first thing I spotted was the dot on the pics.. I try really hard to ignore it for the most part and hopefully in time I will save up enough to upgrade the body and improve from there.

Usually I got for a full shot and then crop down which removes the dot completely.. sneeky I know :P I prefer to do motorsport photography and capture the movement of the cars.

Great shot of the car Bex :blue thumb:. Tricky !!
As for the original B+W shot, I agree with much of what @longk has said.
It's a shame you couldn't have moved 10 metres or so to the left and cut out the tree on the left, hopefully allowing a rule of thirds composition.
Maybe a tad dark, but like @HarryS has mentioned....very Goth (I love Goth :) ).
I know from our chat that you aren't over keen on editing (:snork:), but.....remove the car and blob :blue thumb:
Oh, and read the thread regarding sensors and mirrors :dbgrtmb:

great photo Bex, and welcome to the Forum. I'm a bit keen on photography too, me and my loved one took nearly 4,000 photos on fortnight's recent holiday!!
...and you being in our favourite country you're spoilt for choice too. Don't overlook the old Argyll Motor Works at Balloch for photographic opportunities next time you're up Loch Lomond way... might go find a pic of it actually. [deliberately small shot, as the Thread's about your photo, not this one] Balloch Argyll Motor Works 2003a.jpg

Loving that, it's amazing the old building features people can see if they just look up from time to time.

If you are interested in B&W/monochrome check out the work of Anton Corbijn

Although he's best known for his portrait work he has been around since the late 1970's. His use of light, shadow and background is (in my opinion) without equal.

Yes, he is brilliant. Well worth a look Bex.
@longk I once did a photo shoot themed on the 'Behind The Wheel' video. A wonderful use of grain on that video, plus an excellent track by DM.
Unfortunately, my female model did a 'no show' (which means she didn't turn up, before you start thinking other thoughts  ).
It was really annoying though, as I had the use of a white scooter, and also an airfield for some other work. I still got some good photos though with the male model, but it totally stuffed me initially.

I did have a look at Anton's stuff on Google Images, but I don't see the interest myself. 't would be a boring world if we all liked the same things :)

An example of his better known work................

Love that, almost as if it was taken in infrared filters.

The photo creates a mood here, which is nice.. I think the best way to get HDR is to go out and take multiple shots and stitch them together in photoshop.. HDR software never does any justice.

I don't have anything against anyones HDR shots, for example Bex, I love the atmosphere yours creates, it's very forboding, it's a nice rendering that screams 'do not enter', it would be interesting to see if you have edited it without HDR but gone for a high contrast punchy look? Did you use HDR software or take multiple shots/exposures? That said HDR is a great tool for eerie shots.. abandoned places like hospitals, towns, themeparks etc etc. Personally if I was going to do with shot and I had to do it in HDR, I would have gone with colour.. however that's only my opinion.

This sort of photo is where HDR really comes into its own I think

                          Can't beat HDR for urbex photo's :)

The HDR I posted was done using software, I'm not quite good enough to do it myself in photoshop/lightbox etc,
