@OwdPotter can you please try and upload the images that gave you the size error messages. Just put them on here to start with. Thanks

@pete Lightbox is the term for a plugin that allows to show linked images in full size or at least inside a certain width/height like "fill only 95% of my monitor out".

If you hover of my images, you can see it:

A light box was a box often A0 size with a translucent top and a light inside. They were designed to give a uniform light over the surface not particularly bright though.
You found them in drawing offices when people still used drawing boards on a daily basis. They were used for examining drawings on draughting film, so you could check and edit with a scalpel and Letraset (scalpel was used to scrape the errors off the surface). you could also compare a copy with the original. Also could be used with printed circuit layouts, typically A0 as produced, then photographically reduced by the PCB production company..

I'm not sure if this is just something I get or others see it as well, but sometimes when I click on post reply it hesitates and I get a small black square appear in the top right hand corner of the screen .

Most of the time this doesn't happen just occasionally.

I get that sometimes too. I thought it meant the computer was slow on that day, or maybe too many people using the 'line' or whatever brings the web to your computer.

Re photo resizing - I have ... oh, something I can't remember the name of - microsoft edge maybe ?... anyway when I look at a photo there are three dots on the top right and if I click on them I get a menu, and one of the choices is 'resize photo'.
If I click on that I can manually put the size I want it to be and then save it.
I always make sure I keep a copy of the original size, and after I post the photo I can delete the resized one from my computer.
It doesn't happen often, and never on here, but I have to do it every time when I post on an art phorum I belong to.

OK, I will put my serious head on now...

There are a number of things that are being conflated here, so time to unpick them and make them clearer....

There is, and always has been, a limit of 4mb on any file (not just images) that is uploaded to the site. Where an image is slightly over this, it will attempt to resize automatically as far as I am aware, however the emphasis here is on 'slightly' - - 6mb is going to be booted out as a matter of course. A quick trick I use under these circumstances it to send the image to myself via WhatsApp, then download that WhatsApp image, as it is compressed.

There was a restriction on images being able to be seen by non-members - following feedback, this restriction was removed.

There was a restriction on the physical size/resolution (width x height) of an image that had been set since the dark ages at 800 x 600; given that camera tech has moved on in the intervening 15-20 years... this restriction has been removed, BUT the 4mb limit remains.

There has been the odd instance of posting delay (I have seen this myself) and of course we also have the issue where emails are not being sent outward by the software. There is an underlying server-side issue that we are waiting for the relevant technician to return from holiday to have this resolved.

My pleasure - I must admit that I use the 'send to yourself' thing on WhatsApp quite a lot - really fast way to get photos off your phone onto your computer too. If you don't have the WhatsApp application on your PC, you can download it or you can use WhatsApp web.

Don't hesitate to ping me a message at any point if you need help with it (or anything else for that matter)
