There is a Lightbox feature within the Xenforo software that powers this forum, but it isn't enabled for us. It seems to be a generic term and clicking on an image here sometimes results in a bigger display, which could be all we need.

Yes it was like that yesterday, now I've reversed a change that was stopping some images loading that Lightbox effect has diminished. Hope that makes sense.

It might be a result of the file size change and is a kind of default setting (if bigger than … then show)

I was almost goingto ask if we could get the semi-transparent outside surrounding the image but you answered the question that’s not a new plugin.

you know when you are on a website, click on something and a small window comes up.
This is similar, just the commands behind are different, but works in the same way ( pete clicks on something and then show that window)

I knew that, however Pete asked what is a lightbox hence my answer.

So does it kind of grab all your photos on your PC and assemble them in some kind of order?

I'm reluctant to download it because I'm not sure what it will do.

In a certain way, yes, @pete. The Gallery here is such example.
A forum needs a different code to work than a gallery because it has a different job to do. Those “lightbox” plugins (there are several models nowadays, but Lightbox 1.0 was the first back then that really worked and was extremely popular. Lightbox is now a synonym for this kind).
If you click on one of our galleries, that person has uploaded her/his images. It’s the user who did upload, but indeed, in order to bring the gallery to show images, you need such plugin.
If you click on one of the images then a “window” opens on top of the content below. It shows the image inside the lightbox frame, surrounded by a semitransparent background and arrows that allow to go forward/backward.
