    Thanks all.
I grew them in my large Smithy container.
Cucamelon plants will be ready in a few days to replace them

Does Casablanca ring a bell. They look the same shape as my first early. But as it’s the only first early I have seen, My experience doesn’t count for much. V

Pulled up all mine today, yukon gold impressive large potatoes, outperforming pentland javelin quite considerably, probably 50% higher yield. They also still had some green in the foliage whereas the pentland javelin had died back. Now about to plant some kohl rabi and radicchio to replace them.

Dug up the first of maincrop today and was disappointed by the small size. Maybe the hot dry summer held them back. They are only just flowering and have good top growth so fingers crossed they will bulk up.

I think it's safe to say that my first attempt at potato growing was not very successful. Its true that I didn't water them regularly during the drought and I didn't feed them so I guess that's what I will need to do in the future. I still have another batch on the the go that I will harvest another day.

Hi, we have got the potato growing bug -- In 30 litre plastic tubs, see photos in previous posts

This year we grew amongst others Marfona, which gave a generous crop, healthy and are very tasty
We are now planning for next year
We have seen lots of info about Sarpo Mira Potatoes. Has anyone grown S/M and can compare taste to Marfona ?
Other varieties grew well but had a powdery taste and not as good as Marfona
                          Any help appreciated
                          John

I've grown Sarpo Mira for the last few years, it is very blight resistant and excellent tasting. It's a good all rounder for mashing, roasting, chips and jackets. This year has not been its best due to the drought and hosepipe ban here, even so the yield is good. They are not jacket sized this year but are reasonable and completely free of slug damage. I've never grown Marfona so can't compare.

I also have Setanta this year which break up when boiled and have been attacked by slugs.

Can you recommend a supplier of Sarpo Mira seed potatoes?
On eBay they are £1 per tuber to pr-order
