Why such a specific date?

11 Sept is My Daughter-in law's birthday, I see a potato lifting/Birthday party; also of course a memorably sad date -- being the Twin Towers anniversary

 

I thought that too. Had to harvest 2 weeks ago…they were huge!!!!

Two seed potatoes -- 17.8 pounds
We cut the bottom out of 30 litre Plastic container
Lifted today, cooked Potato/Onion/flour combo; delicious !!!

 

Sarpo Mira almost gone. Just one more after this 30 litre plastic pot.
nine pounds eleven ounces from two seed potatoes.

Looking forward to next year, we can't decide which earlies to buy.
We want a change from the Casablanca we had this year.
Has anyone had success with Maris Bard in containers ? or any recommendations for earlies ?

Not sure about your S/M breaking up.
Our first batch I was boiling them for too long.
Likewise microwave then oven, they don't seem to require as much time.

I am clueless about gardening, but I have just inherited a garden!

I was clearing said garden, which has been untended for 9 months, and found 8 or 9 ball-shaped bulbs or plants about the size of cherry tomatoes. They were not rooted in the soil and seemed to appear at random; they were not grouped together. The app. picture this identified one of them as a 'potato', but they seem much smaller than potatoes and have no roots! I don't understand how they appeared in the soil.

Does anyone know if they are potatoes, and, if so, how they may have got there?

 

They could be aliens' eggs. But seriously, a picture or two...

They do look like tiny potatoes, but they are so spread out - not grouped around the 'mother' - and they have no roots.
