Potting-up fussy seedlings

    Harry - I don't think sharp sand ever has salt in it. I use it regularly and have never had any problems.

    Soft sand might have salt in. That's the sand you find on the sea shore. The action of the sea has rounded the grains so sea sand is always soft. Sharp sand comes from inland deposits that have never experienced the action of sea and waves.
