I never have any look with Poundland plants. The two stores nearest to me are both inside indoor shopping centres. The plants are never watered and dry out pretty quickly because of the conditions. Both shopping centres are always very warm no matter the time of year.

My local Morrisons now have packs of 40 Sturon and Red Baron sets @ £1 and they weigh 340g.

What weight are the packs from Poundland? I think they used to be 300g.

Does that mean the Poundland bags now contain only 260g?

If so, that means Poundland maintain same price each year by reducing weight (nothing new there), but Morrisons are same size/weight for same price every year.

And Morrisons sets are still an extremely good size:

Fyo guys dont plant the bigger sets in favour of the small ones. The bigger ones are more likely to bolt!!!

Thanks @Scrungee, I'll phone my local Morrisons tomorrow and see if my local have them in. Maybe they haven't appear yet as we are somewhat further north than you. If they do have them in, would you still plant them straight away allowing for the fact that it's only January and it's been Baltic and now soggy wet?

I found the little chart above on this site. You can put in your approx location so it can work out last frost dates for planting times . The above is for Glasgow , Southampton will be a full month earlier. My date is around the first week in April :blue thumb:

Only a few bolted from the last couple of packs. Several years ago I planted nearly 200 small sets and they all bolted, lost the entire crop. And the smallest of them bolted first. I sowed the largest first (as I've done for last 30 years or so), but still had room for the smallest ones so they were in the last couple of rows, and when they started to bolt I remember thinking at least it's only the 'runts' I've lost, but then everything else also bolted. But as some things seem to work better for some but not others, perhaps try both large and small for comparison?

Thank you so much @HarryS, the link you gave me is very useful being able to alter dates depending on where you live. I can see me using this site as a reference for lots of things. Much appreciated. Oh yes my Morrisons don't have sets in yet but with the site advising I plant the 1st week in April I've loads of time as long as all the supplies don't get bought by Scrungee!:snorky:
