Preparing Onions for Storage

    Don't know nuffin about the other two but I plant mine at the distance I want them to grow :dbgrtmb: :D

    Of course, when I say 'I' plant mine I mean 'Mrs shiney' plants them. :heehee:

      Shan't believe the planting instructions in future, mind you they were from a pound shop, not a bad crop for the price.:dbgrtmb:

      The remaining ones will stay in the ground untill the show at the end of august, will feed them regular too, see if they will beat Steve's Pumpkin:heehee:

            What? they would be tiny onions planted that close? in fact the bulbs would touch when they get to the diameter of the centres, the ones planted at 25mm could only grow to 25mm diameter:rolleyespink: thats a small onion unless they are for pickling?

            If you're gonna plant that close you should grow square onions:heehee:

            Yes, done deliberately because all my shallots went to seed so I'm stunting all my free setts from Homebase to get pickling size onions.

            Whilst not exactly square onions, I sometimes plant setts in compacted ground to force them into a more cylindrical shape suitable for slicing straight into salads, etc.
