Just like to say kedi that your link says, that, unless you are patient its best to buy plants.
I guess that means that they are OK if moved from a pot to the ground but once established they dont like disturbance.

    Correction!

Ours get more sun than I said in a posting on 31/05. Took the following pics just a half an hour ago, about 6pm my time, 5pm your time in GB.

Lovely! And quite attractive they are too! How big are the seeds? are they tiny like poppy - or large like peas? I could imagine either from those seed-heads!

The seeds are very small, black and shiney, about the size of a pinhead. With the rain we are now having, it will be another couple of weeks before they are ready.

Kedi. I saw your Dictamnus today at Harewood House. There were plenty of seed heads, and just a couple of petals. It was positively identified by one of the gardiners. The seed pods have an extremely strong and distinctive smell - though difficult to describe.

Peter - we think it smells a bit skunk-like.

It is in full bloom at the moment -

Did anyone have any luck with the seeds last year?

Kedi - they are absolutely beautiful! Thankyou again for the seeds you sent last year, I am sorry they didn't thrive with me, though I would like to try again, this time I won't try them in my hydroponic kit!

Unlesssss Peter, you had more luck with the seeds that I (probably more to do with green fingers that luck!!) and would be willing to part with the spindliest, which may have been heading for the compost. Don't worry if not - I am happy to wait for Kedi's seeds to try again (less experimentally this time around!)

Sadly, the seeds that Kedi so kindly sent me didn't germinate either. I sowed half and they went mouldy - I probably made them too wet. So I sowed the other half, but found that these consisted of bits that had been crushed in the post.

You have reminded me that I must get some more and have another go. Now that I know the name they will be easy to get. I would normally have done that when the seeds failed, but a friend had very kindly sent me 33 packets of different Salvia seeds (out of the blue), and as I had already got about 30 other packets of my own I was a bit overwhelmed!

Hello Peter ..... long time no speak ....

Like you, I have had no luck with Sis's seeds ... had a few germinate but then they were gone. I can't say mine was due to too much water ..... probably the opposite!

On the Salvia front, things are going great here and two of yours are doing wonderfully. I think I may have lost that beautiful S gaurantina (sp?) but we plan on going up in the hills to where I got it from soon so more can attach itself to me as I pass by. We were going to go last Sunday and I telephoned to book an outside table (it is a terribly small place) and they were having some sing-song festival and we decided not to go.

I'll send you some photos sooooooooooon. x

Jarbox, Kedi and others. I meant to add, that I would have been delighted to have sent you a seedling if I had got any. I have received so many seeds and cuttings from kind people like yourselves, that its always a pleasure to be able to do something in return. Though I might have a bit of a problem with some of my Salvia seedlings. I started them early in a light box, and now some of the seedlings are over three foot high with some varieties that will go to 5 or 6 foot this year.

LoL - just seen your post as I was writing the above. Thats a real positive for the new software. Often posts cross. So glad to hear the Salvias are doing well. They should like your climate more than mine. I have got just so many now, but very few have started to flower. Some will be really good plants and some will just be oddities. At the moment I don't know which is which. But this is one that I am growing and looking forward to. This picture is Robin Middleton's who sent me all the seeds, though this seed I got from California. Salvia splendens 'Peach'

Not to worry Peter. Perhaps they just don't germinate well from seed? Have to admit I don't feel quite so bad now about my lack of luck, though sorry for Kedi's trouble in sending (twice in my case!) Worth a try though - definitely a beautiful plant, as is your salvia (30 different packs of seed - good grief, that will have kep you busy!) lol

I think the seeds I sent must have been jinxed. I'll collect more this year and hope that they do better.
