@Fat Controller I rarely have any problem that bothers me. So I don't really want to try any other browser. :blue thumb:

Uploading photos is the only thing that has been any sort of problem in the last couple of years (since upgrading to IE11) and that is sorted in a very brief time.

I also have problems every time Windows 10 is updated but not with photo's. Some I can sort myself, but more often than not I think Microsoft pick up on complaints and correct the issue at a later point. Recently my lap top mouse pad had been disabled after an update, I eventually realised why and enabled it myself.

Before I started using W10 - uploading photo's for me was a nightmare and the only chance I had was to upload at non peak times when there were fewer members logged in. Today I have uploaded ten photo's in succession faster than usual even though at normal speed they are quite fast. I believe, and I've mentioned this before that it's because I'm using everything Windows 10, Edge, Bing and Defender. I've found Chrome and Firefox hopeless.

I've read that the latest version of Xenforo about to be issued will use a new text editor and nothing earlier than Win 10 will be supported and this means those using earlier version of Windows will not be able to use the WYSIWYG rich text editor when drafting posts.

        Welcome to XenForo 2

        What made XenForo drop redactor?

Of course, I presume it will be up to the individual site owners if/when they decide to upgrade their software to any newer version.

Sorry to be thick  but can I have that in English?

I didn't know that GC had an editor that was rich! :th scifD36:

What You See Is What You Get - a rich text editor that has controls such as bold/italic/font controls etc that displays the text as it will be viewed as opposed to a plain text editor which has no such controls, is in system default font, and would require the person writing the text to type in code (eg ) for each and every formatting change desired.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, if Xenforo was upgraded to only work well with Windows 10 (or higher, if there is such a thing) I would have difficulty with making my posts - as, I assume, would a large proportion of members.

I'll deal with that if it occurs, but almost certainly won't upgrade to 10 unless other programmes are affected. I understand that a number of our software and hardware won't work properly (or at all) if I upgrade as they're no longer supported.

It is one hell of a big 'if' - firstly, the it is very early days for the new version of the software; the more it gets used in the wild, and the more people find that they have problems using it, the more likely it is that the developers will change how it works to make it more widely compatible. Secondly, I would imagine that changing to the new version of the software would be a choice rather than an automatic update - each individual site owner would have to actually decide to make the change (and no doubt incur the associated costs). As it currently stands, I would question how many site owners would take the leap, knowing that doing so could potentially alienate a portion of their membership.

@redstar I think there's a size limit on how big each file is that can be dragged and dropped. My photos are only 1.5mb and they drag and drop easily. I know it used to be a limit of 2mb but I think it's bigger now but @Fat Controller will be able to tell us.

I do the same Pete but I usually have to resize pics to get under 1.5mb to upload quickly.

I've got an old Nikon camera, set to take J pegs, not much over 1.6 Mbs so they uploads easily.

The current limit is set at roughly 4 megs, although browser etc can have an effect on this.
