One thing that came out of this documentary was that she genuinely did have no airs or graces, even by the standard of the time.
    Casablanca is a classic !

I'm currently reading The Third Man. Talking about it at work t'other day it turns out that very few people have seen the film  Even among the 'old people'.
    What is going on!

Ah! That's the misconception, no one ever said "Play it again, Sam," in the film.

I've seen it several times. It was also shown on Saturday afternoon on 17th February, on BBC2.
      I recorded it.

Watched the last episode of A Place to Call Home. I don't see how they can do another last series when they've ended all of it.

I really enjoyed the first series of a Place to Call Home, particularly the contemporary music.Subsequent series, not so much.

Here's a few I can remember from the first series.

              Frank Chacksfield Orchestra

              "Where is Your Heart,"

              "Ebb Tide,"

              Ray Anthony.

              "At Last."

              Jo Stafford,

              "You Belong to Me."

              The Mills Brothers,

"You’re Nobody ‘til Somebody Loves You."

Joni James, (she was popular in Australia)

              "Have You Heard?"

              "Why Don’t You Believe Me?"

              Louis Armstrong,

"A Kiss to Build a Dream on."

              Woody Herman,

              "Sweet Sue."

              The Andrews Sisters,

              "I Can Dream, Can’t I?"

In subsequent series, they started using contemporary cover versions of songs popular when the series was set. On the later series, even more covers are used.

As an example, in Series 2 this song is sung by, Martha Marlow, it's listed on the CD.

But this is to what people would have been listening, in the year the episodes were set 1955. A decade before it was recorded by the Righteous Brothers.

This old person has seen it :old: although it was good I don't think it's worthy of the Best British Film Ever. Unfortunately, I can't think of any that would be worthy of it. :noidea:

                  A piece of useless information:-
Although the film was in black and white she wore a blue dress when they first met in Paris. :dbgrtmb:
