Watched a really good movie the other night, ‘1917’. It tells the story of two young soldiers that are tasked with getting a message to the front line. It’s almost unique in that it appears to be shot as one scene, the camera work is stunning. Highly recommended, available on iplayer.

Been watching this on BBC 1 on a Sunday, it's the last series and still good. It's called Happy Valley but it isn't.

"Happy Valley" is a brilliant programme.
We just watched "Atlantic Crossing" on ITV Play. Superb. Stars Sofia Helin from "The Bridge".

Currently watching two mini-series on UK TV Play. "Operation Buffalo" is a comedy-drama set against the Maralinga nuclear bomb tests in Australia in the 1950s. The second is "Copper", set in New York in the 1860s. It was made by BBC America and first shown in 2012. Both well worth a watch.

As usual of late I can't find anything worth watching amongst all the current normal series.

Instead I' ve returned to world drama tv.

The Defence - a Polish legal drama.

Partisan - a Swedish crime thriller

Something to hide - a French drama base on a real life story.

Winter evenings are the only time I get 'into' watching a whole series through to the end.

            .

I'm waiting for Clarksons farm to start on the 10th February on Amazon prime, watched the first series and it was good how he tried to farm with the help of a farmer and partner.

The last episode of Happy Valley next Sunday, there's 5 different endings so that's why it's probably not on iPlayer until the last episode, maybe.

I switched the TV on earlier and it came on to a programme 'Hits of the 60's' and Tom Jones was singing Delilah. That song has been all over the news in the last few days as being banned from Welsh rugby for being too controversial! I like the song but not necessarily the the meaning of the lyrics. Are we going to have to watch what songs we sing in future?

Yes I hope so, no need whatsoever for such songs.

If you think about it its a bit like a play, but put to music.
So are we going to have to ban plays and films with similar content.:dunno:

Some say that it is an argument for pointing out what shouldn't happen and to not sweep it under the carpet by banning it. Music and song are there to tug at the heartstrings and, hopefully, demonstrate a change of attitude. The song is 55 years old.

So, from a totally different type of point, do we ban this as they tried to do in the U.S.? It was written by a white man who got into trouble over it during the McCarthy era! This one is 85 years old.
