"Digging for Britain" live on Wednesday but on iPlayer from Tuesday on. Episode 1 is about the dinosaur footprints found in the Glouc/Worc/Cots.

“Monty Don’s British Gardens”, Friday 10 January, Episode 1 on BBC 2 at 8.00 pm and iPlayer is worth a watch, starting in Scotland. Some of the visits are a bit short but there’s lots of colour and interest.

Winterwatch in last night the usual suspects on, especially like Iolo. Very captivating last night especially that retired man who has sail boarded around our coastline looking at the ‘sea life’ close up, the Tuna frolicking around him while he filmed was amazing, really good hour well spent watching the TV.

I hunted for this thread to mention Monty Don's British Gardens but couldn't find it so thought it didn't exist.

I've just received an email notification about Victoria's post, hasn't happened before for this thread, weird.

I am enjoying British Gardens but for me there is too much history and not enough about plants and the gardens themselves. Monty showed us Hilltop, Beatrix Potter's garden but didn't show us the glorious Holehird near Windermere.

I agree @Busy-Lizzie MDs British Gardens is mildly interesting but also slightly frustrating. The garden visits are so brief it seems to be quite random as to what if anything gets mentioned or highlighted - history, plants or Monty’s thoughts

I saw a clip on our local news where the owner of Old Wollerton Hall was exclaiming her delight and privilege at been honoured by a visits for the series. Given they are regularly on GW it seemed a bit OTT and I suspect if I turn to sip my tea at the wrong moment I’ll miss it anyway

I mentioned this series in an earlier post here @Busy-Lizzie. Having since watched the second episode I'm feeling a bit travel weary with all the rushing around and back tracking . I'd rather see fewer locations in detail and hear more from the garden owners/workers. Still worth watching though while it's dismal outside!

New series of “This Farming Life” BBC 2, 8.00 pm - 9.00 pm, started Sunday 26 Jan, and on iPlayer. More good humoured hardworking families. You’ll enjoy it indoors with the heating on .

Thanks @Plantminded I love that programme. It shows the reality of farming, particularly on a small scale. Long hours, crap income, and very few days off.
