I've not had a passport since the mid-90s. Think of the money I've saved! Not to mention the photo-distress. (My driving licence photo was taken just after lockdown when I hadn't had a haircut for 4 months! Sheesh! It is an embarrassment! )

That is exactly the problem, in your case your passport won't be accepted in the EU after September 2034 ! It hasn't 'expired' it will show expired date of June 2035.
