It was slightly colder this morning than I expected and I got some of pumpkin leaves frosted:

Nothing else was affected, no sign of frost damage on tomatoes or french beans, although it got my outdoor cucumbers a few weeks ago.

Scrungee, your plants still look a healthy green colour, apart from the frosted bits.

It didn't get above 5 deg C until midday, so I still had mine fleeced over till then. My leaves have started to go yellow though, not a good sign.

Looks like it'll be going down to around freezing at the weekend at my pumpkin patch, so I'll probably be cutting it today so I can concentrate on covering up tomatoes.

I cut it a short while ago. Mrs Scrungee is not happy with my suggestion we keep it indoors until Halloween.

I thought I'd delay weighing and posting weight a while to create a little bit of suspense.

Slightly off topic......but with my head held low I went and bought one from Tesco today (after the unfortunate end of my potential giant earlier this year :frown:). It is a beauty and cheap too for the size (it's a biggie :snork:) - £3, they also had smaller ones at 2 for £3. Considering the bad year commercial pumpkin growers have supposed to have had I would have expected the prices to higher, they were £5 at Tescos last year.

Well it won't hold the same satisfaction but I'll keep it dry and cool ready for the night of terror in a couple of weeks :heehee:

Not a bad idea to buy one now Bilbo, before they all sell out. Apparently the commercial growers have 20-30% less than last year.

Don't forget that there's a second stage to this compo - pumpkin carving?
