I'm down to one plant now, hot weather allowed the alkethene hoops to heat up and become pliable, the tension of the plastic sheet flattened it and a plant underneath.

No backups, so not a great start to the season.

    Steve...:)

          Wow! That is fantastic Richard360.

Thanks, I will try my best. I will also seek Lady Luck and consult Mother Nature.

          Very sad to hear...

If it is any consolation, I am offering this to be raised by the village:

Blimey Richard, that pumpkin is doing well. What are you feeding it? Rainbow dust and unicorn droppings...lol

Had another look at my backup plants and where I thought they where both fried, one was still growing so I have 2 in the ground again.

The backup is an orange one, so hopefully some colour in the plot this year.

              Steve...:)

Yes I do, I always have had a plan.

I have 3 x 12 ft lengths of 4 x 4 drilled at the top so it will accept a short piece of rebar to hold them together and also support a chain operated block and tackle. Lift the pumpkin, push cart underneath to move it off the plot. Then lift it again next to a vehicle or trailer to remove from site.

I only have the tripod and hoist, no cart, trailer or lifting straps so to speak but I'll cross that bridge when and if needed.

                  Steve...:)
