Page 13? Only page 4 on my settings!
What is the post number? The number in the top right hand corner.
    I'll have a trawl through.

I was in Portugal with team mates but it wasnt a holiday! More a Soviet style training camp before the Worlds in Bled at the end of the month.

Ooh I wanted to tell you something interesting- but I'll find your thread about starting a nursery.

Massive triffids spreading over your plots.

Pete has a monster growing an inch a day, surprise reunions and a disembowelled rabbit.

    Love this thread.

Well my pumpkin plant has now reached the top of out conifer hedge; about 8ft, including about 6ft of horizontal growth that's now about 11ft of plant!!!! (taking off the height of the compost bin) in just a few weeks (planted on 19th July), lots of male flowers and some enormous leaves, just measured the biggest at 31" across !!!

I know the compost bin contained well rotted garden compost, rotted horse manure and I added some chicken maure pellets....but it seems I have created a monster ha ha ha  :D

Just thought i would show you how my first ever Pumpkin is doing :happydance:, i had two more smaller ones on the go yesterday but some how one has just fell off since then :(, also i noticed a slug around the plants so i picked him up and flung him out the garden, will slugs try and eat the Pumpkins or the plant?? and do i need to put anything under the Pumpkin to protect it while growing?

Picture was taken with my mobile, so not a great shot :D

My experience is that slugs are perhaps a problem for young plants but once the plant gets going they avoid it, too prickly I'm thinking.

If a small pumpkin falls of or gets eaten by slugs, my guess is its not set and wont grow anyway.

I dont put anything under mine but you can if you want to, it wont hurt.:)

I gave mine a really good soaking before going on holiday, but one (previously the best one) was wilting on my return. Another year I might set up a water barrel of feed with tap, hose and trickle watering arrangements.

I had to prune mine today, it was taking over the adjacent bed. The branch I pruned had a couple of small pumpkins set luckily there is already one decent sized pumpkin growing on that plant so thats all I'm planning to leave. The second plant hasn't had any female flowers so far.

My plant has put on another 2ft+ in the last 3 days and the first female flower has opened this morning and has just been "manually" pollinated :D with fresh pollen from a male flower that has opened at the same time. Time will tell if I've been successful :thumb: if so, not sure how big it will get in what remains of the summer????
